2024 Spring Cleanup a Smashing Success
Huge thank you to all of the Cherry Park Neighbourhood volunteers who helped plan and execute the 2024 Spring Clean Up.
We had 45 folks out and picked up a WHOPPING 39 bags of garbage PLUS several things which do not fit into a bag. That means we beat last year's count by 14 bags!
Calling in our load to the city, the operator gave an audible gasp at the quantity and asked me to pass on her thanks. We hope to see you again next year for another neighbourhood refresh.
There were 3 winners for the most unusual piece of garbage. To see the whole gallery check our facebook page.
FIRST PRIZE: $10 Tim Horton's gift card: belongs to Yomi who hauled in a suitcase! Yomi please reach out to us via Facebook.
SECOND PRIZE: $5 Tim Horton's gift card: already claimed by John Vanderzand for bringing in a ceramic squirrel.
THIRD PRIZE: Snickers Bar: belongs to Tanya, Boris, and Sasha for bringing in a Costco Membership. Please reach out to claim your prize.

Join the Cherry Festival Planning Committee
There are no small roles when it comes to the Cherry Festival. Putting together an event that 6,000 people attend takes many many volunteers with time they donate in service to the community.
Our planning committee will meet once per month from now until July to ensure that everything is in place for the best festival yet. No previous experience required.
Come with ideas on how to make the festival great. We have a few seasoned Cherry Festival veterans on board who will guide and lay out the plan based on previous years.
The next meeting is Monday, March 4th at the Calvary Church at 91 Gruhn Street, Kitchener. Please join us if you are able.

We will need volunteers to help plan this event and/or to work as skating monitors.
If you can help, please contact me at cpna@execulink.com as soon as possible.

Corn Social Today!
Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that our annual Labour Day Corn Social is TODAY in Gilder Green park (corner of Glasgow & Eden). The event starts at Noon. We will serve corn, hotdogs, and drinks (lemonade most likely) as long as supplies last, so don’t wait until the last moment to come. Food is free, but we do accept donations to help with the expenses. Come out and enjoy some time with your neighbourhood.
Please remember to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

Corn Social
For those of us who do not have cottages, we like to have a lovely Corn Social on Labour Day. This is a opportunity to enjoy the end of summer, have some great corn and mingle with your neighbours.
This event will be at Gildner Green (Iron Horse Trail & Glasgow Street) on Monday, September 4th. We start the event at noon and go to about 3 PM. Food will be served only as long as supplies last (about 1:30 PM to 2 PM).
There will be a BBQ, cold drinks and lots of corn. As usual, the food is free, but we do take donations to support our events. We keep this event simple, but we still need helpers to set up, clean up and cook. If we get the helpers, we like to have some games too. Contact us if you can help: cpna@execulink.com or (519) 742-3248. Join us! :-)

Thank you for cleaning up
To all of the attendees who joined us this past Saturday for the Spring Clean-up we thank you. It was amazing to see so many kids out in the rain. The BBQ was a fun treat :)
In total, we cleaned up 25 bags of garbage and had 30 attendees at the cleanup which is a stunning success for such a rainy day.

Community gardens
The garden spots at Old Willow Green and the Willow Green Extension are all taken for this year, but I have a couple of openings for the Gildner Green raised bed garden.
These beds are smaller but still very productive, as no space is wasted. Having them raised is also so much easier on the back.
Please email right away if you think you would like to rent one for this year (cpna@execulink.com )
